Regardless of the state of the economy, I buy products and pay for services all the time. Occasionally, even if I would like to make a purchase, I won’t justify it because I have other priorities. I recently had what I considered to be a novel thought. I’ll tell the guy trying to sell me something what it would take for me to make the purchase; … he either didn’t get the fact that I was trying to help him out, or he didn’t think the effort was worth it. In either case, here’s a simple primer for sales people (at least when I’m the customer).
So you want to Build a Web Application – Prequel
One of my readers posed some highly relevant questions in a comment on one of my posts about wanting to build a web application, the main theme of which was summed up in their initial question: “any words of advice to someone who needs a web application built, but does not know coding or designing?”. This required a larger response than I was willing to put into the comments section, so I turned it into a full post.
6 Tenets for Web Application Clients and Developers
During the web app building process, clients should be able to trust their developer(s) and developers should not have to wonder if the client cares about the project. This post is intended to give insight into some of the more important concepts for keeping development running smoothly.
What Is Holding You Back
I always find it interesting to hear why people don’t chase after their goals. As an idea guy, I used to be the type of person that would talk about doing 50 different things but wouldn’t go do any of them. Now that I have followed through with a few, I realize I must not have considered them very important at the time, or I didn’t have the right motivation. Over the past few years, I have mustered up the time and energy to start building a few of the projects from the past and to go for some of the goals I once considered out of my reach. Before I did, I had a few issues (excuses) to get past. If you are in the situation I was in previously (tons of ideas, but no follow through) hopefully this will help.
Thoughtful Linking
Most people don’t link to other sites in ways that would help that site. Whether they know the search engine optimization effects of linking and link text or not, they usually just create a link with whichever phrase hits the page without considering the site they are linking to. This post will hopefully lead to a helpful boost for sites you would like to help out, and enable you to remove any boosts you were giving to sites you would rather not.
So you want to Build a Web Application
Maybe you have an idea for a web application, but you don’t know where to start, or you are just getting into the building process. Perhaps you have started and you are unhappy with your current developer(s). This post is meant to give you an idea of what you may end up dealing with when you start having your application built. More importantly it should help prepare you with the right questions and expectations to keep you from running into some of the snags I hit during the contracted out portion of my build.
